Welcome to Funky Junk Farms, formerly the Altadena Water Gardens, built in 1920 on 3/4 acre near the foothills of Altadena, California.

The Altadena Water Gardens initially supplied estates of Altadena, Pasadena and surrounding areas with aquatic plants, fish and miscellaneous pond supplies. At one point Carroll Friswold owned and operated a discus hatchery at the Altadena Water Gardens. Friswold was renowned for his breeding techniques. During the last decade it was operated as a tropical fish business which has since closed down. The property was sold to its current owners (Mr. and Mrs. Funky Junk) in mid 2002. The property is comprised of three main sections. The main house, built in 1920, is a 1,400 square foot house built with redwood tongue and groove and board and batten log cabin with hand hewn beams in the living room. The house contains two large bedrooms, a dining room, kitchen and bathroom. Presently, the house is available for exterior shooting only. The front yard, as with the rest of the property, is a work in progress. It contains a rose garden which was planted in one of the two original cement ponds. The property also contains miscellaneous fruit trees and Yipsy's collection of funky American folk art garden sculptures.

The previous owners mosaiced most of the front yard driveway with images of starfish, dolphins, and other miscellaneous aquatic animals. Directly behind the main house (the middle yard) is a large Sycamore tree. Also in the middle yard are chicken cages on one wide with a vintage aviary constructed of the same board and batten material as the main house. There is also a little one room cottage that will be turned into Yipsy's art studio.

The main building in the middle yard is a 1,400 square foot redwood tongue and groove log cabin with a beautiful facade. Built on a solid concrete slab, it contains 4 separate room which have been gutted and are slated for restoration. It is an awesome example of this type of architecture --perfect for mountain / lodge / campground / trailer park scenes. Directly across from the log cabin is a long concrete building that housed the original concrete ponds for breeding fish. Behind this building are the original in-ground, concrete fish ponds.

In the rear yard lies a 120 foot long storage building, to the west of which lie another 120 feet of original in-ground concrete fish ponds. Behind all of this lies yet another 30 feet of vacant land
